Caching 101: What does real world data tell us about the impact of caching in schools?
Sergio Villegas - sergio.villegas@appliansys.com
Thanks to E-rate funding, schools across the United States have been able to upgrade bandwidth year-on-year as they cater for growing use of technology in class. But districts are finding that bandwidth alone isn't enough. Even the largest connections fail to guarantee delivery of web-based content and applications at the speeds required for teachers and students to benefit from personalized learning approaches.

One solution that many have turned to is web caching. Added to E-rate's Eligible Services List in 2015, caching stores web content the first time it is requested and serves repeat requests at LAN speed.

This presentation dives into web traffic data at a number of districts that have deployed caches to help technical teams understand precisely how caching helps achieve speed and eliminate classroom congestion.
