A graduate of Chicago Public Schools (Lowell, Lloyd, Lane Tech), Melvin Soto has worked in multiple capacities over his CPS career including: Mathematics Teacher at Peirce School of International Studies, District Technology Trainer, District Website Manager and Assistant Principal at South Shore High School. Since 2004, he has been the Assistant Principal for Technology and Strategic Planning at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School where he has personally designed, constructed, overseen and implemented over $4 million in cutting edge technological innovations. These include: 80 hi-tech classrooms, 9 computer labs, 5 hybrid classrooms, and an interactive cinema room with integrated video conferencing. In the last ten years he has also designed numerous custom web applications to create efficiencies in school administration. Creator of Lookup, Mobile ID, Purchup, LockerPort, GradRecorder, Scanalist, and Lesson Tune.
