Alicia Duell is the Director of Technology and Information Services for Wheeling Community Consolidated School District 21. Prior to her experience in district-level technology leadership, Alicia was a school librarian. The ever-increasing levels of technology integration in schools and libraries helped prepare her for her role in technology leadership. Alicia and her family have lived and worked at international schools in Honduras, Indonesia, and in the Philippines. She is passionate about connecting students with authentic audiences and experiences; effective staff professional development; the potential uses for social media in education; and empowering women in leadership. Alicia has presented at regional, state, national and international conferences including the ASCD Annual Conference on Teaching Excellence; Learning 2.0 Technology Conference in Bangkok, Thailand; Google Apps for Education Summit in Manila, Philippines; American Association for School Librarians; Illinois School Library Media Association Association; Illinois Computing Educators (ICE); Illinois Education and Technology Conference (IETC).
